Key West is a very magical place. - Custom House - Follow a path once traveled by wreckers, pirates, and politicians to South Florida's most important historic building. The Custom House, built in 1891, served as a post office, court house and government center when wrecking made Key West the richest city, per capita, in the U.S. But by the 1930's, the island city was bankrupt. Eventually, the building was boarded up and completely abandoned. Now, after a 9-year, $9 million restoration project, the Key West Art & Historical Society has returned the big red brick building to its former glory.
- Mel Fisher's Maritime Museum - The Mel Fisher Maritime Museum showcases gold, silver and treasure recovered from shipwrecks around the world. The museum contains an extensive collection of artifacts from 17th century shipwrecks, such as the Henrietta Marie and the Nuestra Senora de Atocha.
- Truman Little White House Museum - History has left its mark on the Truman Little White House since 1890 when it initially served as the command headquarters of the naval station during the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II. In 1946 the historic building first served as the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman and a site for the Cold War response by later presidents. Today, the Truman Little White House is a public, living museum as well as a retreat and place of government business by our nation's leaders.
- Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum - Nestled in the heart of Old Town Key West, this unique property was home to one of America's most honored and respected authors. Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote here for more than ten years. Calling Key West home, he found solace and great physical challenge in the turquoise waters that surround this tiny island.
- Mallory Square - The center of Key West's historic waterfront, Mallory Squares stages famous Key West sunset celebration. Historic Mallory Squares and the city of Key West both had their beginning along this deep harbor waterfront - the wrecking schooners, the frigates and warships of the US Navy, the Cuban cigar makers tobacco warehouses, ship's chandlers and government offices combined to make Key West a bustling seaport out on the frontier of a young America.
- Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory - Take a stroll through a tropical paradise... walk through an exotic and inviting environment filled with hundreds of the most beautiful winged creatures in nature -- butterflies.
- Fort Zachary Taylor State Park - Florida's southernmost state park is popular for recreation, as well as U.S. military history. The fort was one of a series built in the mid-1800s to defend the nation's southeastern coastline. Completed in 1866, Fort Zachary Taylor played important roles in the Civil War and Spanish-American War. A beautiful beach at the southern end of the park provides opportunities for picnicking, swimming, snorkeling, and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy a short nature trail and bicycling within the park.
- Pirate Soul Museum - Offers a collection of almost 500 artifacts, including a treasure chest, coupled with interactive technology to tell the story of pirate life and navigation.
